Jio Platforms Limited (JPL) has announced a partnership with SpaceX to offer Starlink’s high-speed internet services to its customers in India. The agreement, which hinges on SpaceX receiving the necessary authorizations to operate in India, aims to expand Jio’s broadband offerings and complement SpaceX’s direct services to consumers and businesses.

Under the agreement, Jio will offer Starlink solutions through its retail outlets and online platforms. The partnership leverages Jio’s position as the world’s largest mobile operator in terms of data traffic and Starlink’s leadership in low Earth orbit satellite technology, aiming to deliver reliable broadband services across India, especially in rural and remote areas.

Jio plans to provide Starlink equipment at its retail outlets and offer comprehensive customer support for installation and activation. This collaboration reinforces Jio’s commitment to making reliable internet accessible to businesses, small enterprises, and communities nationwide.

Starlink will complement JioAirFiber and JioFiber by extending high-speed internet to challenging locations, providing a fast and affordable solution. The two companies are also exploring additional areas of cooperation to enhance India’s digital infrastructure.

Mathew Oommen, Group CEO of Reliance Jio, emphasized that ensuring affordable broadband access for all Indians, regardless of location, remains Jio’s top priority. He expressed that the partnership with SpaceX marks a significant step in expanding broadband accessibility, furthering Jio’s mission to empower communities and businesses across India in an AI-driven era.
